How to read it
How to read the figures on this page and what they do not say.
- Referees are not assigned at random: big matches get particular referees. The differences between referees also reflect the matches they took charge of, not just the referee.
- The 95% interval shows how far the average can move just because of the number of matches; with many referees, a few fall outside the league interval by chance alone.
- Only referees with at least 10 league matches in our database appear.
- The figures say what happened in their matches, not why, and not what will happen in the next one.
